Integrative Medicine – Overview

Integrative Medicine is a non-biased and collaborative approach to health and wellness.  It involves naturopathic doctors, medical physicians, other licensed health providers, and of course, the patients themselves.

With the direction of Dr. Danny Jui, ND, the first Canadian naturopathic doctor to have completed the residency in Integrative Medicine at Yale University, Ray Clinic continues to develop collaborative relationships with other like-minded institutions to provide the best integrative medical care for all patients.

In addition to general naturopathic medicine, Ray Clinic has a working relationship with the Pacific Centre for Reproductive Medicine (PCRM) in Burnaby to provide integrative fertility and reproductive care for many patients.  Ray Clinic also cross-refers with Inspire Health in Vancouver to support cancer patients and their families in their journey to recovery and healing.

Natural and Integrative Fertility Care

Ray Clinic has been working closely with medical fertility specialists across the lower mainland since 2006.  With Dr. Charlene Chan’s leadership, Ray Clinic collaborates with the Pacific Centre for Reproductive Medicine as the designated affiliate of the PCRM Wellness Program.  Ray Clinic is unique in that we are the first and only Naturopathic Clinic in BC to provide onsite fertility acupuncture support before and after IVF transfers at PCRM.

Naturopathic medicine improves your overall health and thus enhances fertility using a variety of natural treatments:

Clinical Nutrition, Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Botanical Medicine, Homeopathic Medicine, Counselling, Physical Medicine, IV Vitamin-Mineral Therapies.

The following is considered in order to help women and couples conceive naturally or improve the outcomes of Assisted Reproductive Therapies such as IUIs and IVF cycles:

  • Address underlying health conditions (e.g. PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, PID, thyroid)
  • Improve egg quality and uterus health
  • Improve sperm health (e.g. morphology, volume, count)
  • Ensure adequate nutrition
  • Balance hormones
  • Regulate menstrual cycles
  • Minimize stress and any other related issues

Dr. Chan and Dr. Jui have added experience and interest in natural and integrative reproductive health care working with fertility specialists.

Initial consultations with the naturopathic doctor at Ray Clinic include a health intake, physical exam, any lab tests required and an individual treatment plan to restore balance, improve your overall health and enhance female and male fertility.

At Ray Clinic, Dr. Charlene Chan is the director of Integrative Fertility Care.  Acupuncture for pre- and post-embryo transfers may also be provided on-site at PCRM under the direction of Dr. Chan.  For more information, please call Ray Clinic at 604.461.7900 or email info@rayclinic.ca
